“Suppose there are prophets among you or
those who dream dreams about the future, and they promise you signs or
miracles, 2 and the predicted signs or miracles
occur. If they then say, ‘Come, let us worship other gods’—gods you have
not known before— 3 do not listen to them. The Lord your God is testing you
to see if you truly love HIM with all your heart and soul. 4 Serve only the Lord your God
and fear HIM alone. Obey His
commands, listen to His voice,
and cling to HIM. 5 The false prophets or
visionaries who try to lead you astray must be put to death, for they encourage
rebellion against the Lord your God, who redeemed you from slavery
and brought you out of the land of Egypt. Since they try to lead you astray
from the way the Lord your God commanded you to live, you must put
them to death. In this way you will purge the evil from among you. 6 “Suppose
someone secretly entices you—even your brother, your son or daughter,
your beloved wife, or your closest friend—and says, ‘Let us go worship other
gods’—gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known. 7 They
might suggest that you worship the gods of peoples who live nearby or who
come from the ends of the earth. 8 But do not give in or listen…. 18 “The Lord your God will be merciful ONLY IF YOU LISTEN TO HIS VOICE and KEEP ALL HIS COMMANDS that I am giving you today, doing what pleases HIM.”
The idea here is to make sure
that we are aware that in life we will encounter people that will invite us to
give the glory, of what God had done for us, to something or someone else
besides God. With a very clear and
simple words, “DO NOT LISTEN to them”, we are told that whoever is doing that
we better avoid.
Just in case you didn’t know, the Lord our God will test us. Not because HE needs to know how much we know,
NO! HE KNOWS it all even without the
testing, but because we need to realize how deep our commitment with HIM
is. Due to HIS omniscient character, and
in HIS mercy for us, (the fallen kind) HE decided to remind us all over the
Scriptures that first commandment, “LOVE
THE LORD your God with
all your heart, with all
your soul” [1]. Also to our benefit, HE gives us periodical “tests”
for us to recognize where the depth of our love for HIM is; that way we are
face with the reality of our heart’s condition, and we move closer to HIM in
order to keep that love growing.
When we truly love HIM the way HE
wants, and get confronted with the temptation of giving the glory to
something/someone else we will not yield unto that, but again, that will ONLY
happen when we love HIM the way HE wants; to love HIM with ALL that is within
us. And when we fail to love HIM, His way, we just have to confess, ask HIM
what is it that is preventing us from getting that great love for HIM; ask HIM to
reveal to us if there is a person, place or thing that we have to be separate
from at the particular moment that we are to seek HIS presence deeper and
deeper.
Really is not that hard, is just
a matter of practice; but it’s not going to happen IF we do not have HIS Spirit
within us, for HIS Spirit is the One who gives us the touch right at the moment
that we’re being confronted so we make the right decision. So starting at this
point, let us pray…
Father, I thank you for giving me
a chance, to realize that I’m a sinner, and as such I can’t save myself; I
believe you sent Jesus to die for my sins, and raise HIM up for the forgiveness
of those sins. I accept you as my Lord and Savior, please accept me as your
child, and help me to live for You, Lord. Create in me a desire for You, Your
ways and Your word, like never before; and surround me with a new family in
Christ separating me from those that have no desire for You, I pray for Your
glory in Jesus name, and I thank You for saving me! AMEN!!!
After this prayer, believe that God had cleansed
your ugly past, and sees you as a brand new creation, because He does.[2]
Therefore I pray for HIM to lead you to the church you need to be at where HIS
Word is preached, and idol worshiping is inexistent. Study His Word and pray DAILY! Join a Bible
study group in church, and you will discover that you have new brothers and
sisters that are eager to meet you and grow in the Lord with you. If you need me to help you find a church
