Anoint; Anointed: a-noint',
a-noint'-ed (aleipho, chrio): Refers to a very general practice in the East. It
originated from the relief from the effect of the sun that was experienced in
rubbing the body with oil or grease. Among rude people the common vegetable or
animal fat was used. As society advanced and refinement became a part of
civilization, delicately perfumed ointments were used for this purpose. Other
reasons soon obtained for this practice than that stated above. Persons were
anointed for health (Mr 6:13), because of the widespread belief in the healing
power of oil. It was often employed as a mark of hospitality (Lu 7:46); as a
mark of special honor (Joh 11:2); in preparation for social occasions (Ru 3:3;
2Sa 14:2; Isa 61:3). The figurative use of this word (chrio) has reference
strictly to the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the individual (Lu 4:18; Ac
4:27; 10:38). In this sense it is God who anoints (Heb 1:9; 2Co 1:21). The
thought is to appoint, or qualify for a special dignity, function or privilege.
It is in this sense that the word is applied to Christ (Joh 1:41 m; Ac 4:27;
10:38; Heb 1:9; compare Ps 2:2; Da 9:25).[1]
·
“On the
day Moses set up the Tabernacle, he anointed it and set it
apart as holy. He also anointed and set apart
all its furnishings and the altar with its utensils.”[2]
·
“There
Zadok the priest took the flask of olive oil from the sacred tent and anointed
Solomon.”[5]
The tabernacle was anointed; its furnishings were anointed,
the altar to burn offerings even the utensils to be used in that altar; the washbasin
with its stand to consecrate was anointed! Aaron was presented, washed with water, dressed with the sacred garments, and anointed, consecrated to serve our God as a priest. [6]
JESUS was anointed: “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for HE has anointed me
to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will
be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free”[7] “And you know that God anointed Jesus
of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing
good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.[8]
There are blessings when you are anointed and set apart …
·
“The LORD gives his own reward for doing good
and for being loyal, and I refused to kill you even when the LORD placed you in my power, for you are
the LORD's anointed one. [10]
·
You give
great victories to your king; you show unfailing love to your anointed, to David and all his descendants
forever.[11]
·
Now I know
that the LORD rescues his anointed king.
He will answer him from his holy heaven
and rescue him by his great power.[12]
and rescue him by his great power.[12]
Have you accepted the called, ANOINTED AND SET APART?
CONSECRATED TO SERVE GOD?
IF YOU HAVE, I praise God for you; and pray may continue to
allow you to grow in HIM and know HIM more and more as you dedicate daily to
HIM and His service.
IF YOU HAVE NOT,
I say to you “Wait no more!” Accept that God is calling you TODAY, because HE does not want you to
perish eternally in hell. Hell (eternal
fire) WAS NOT created for you! “the
eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.”[14]
Just ACCEPT that you are a sinner, BELIEVE that GOD sent
JESUS to the cross to pay for our sins, and CONFESS your sins to GOD. I pray
you RECEIVE the GIFT of JESUS in your heart, because when you accept that call,
you become anointed and set apart for HIM who called you! For GOD have not only
good but, GREAT plans for you![15]
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. IF you hear my voice AND open the door, I will come
in, and we will share a meal
together as friends.”[16]
Let me know of your decision I have a few things I want to give
and send to you.
