I use very
frequently the relationship between parents and children as a comparison when teaching about our
relationship with our Heavenly Father and us as His children; and how we adults
sometimes act like our own little kids. Most of the time, because of our own
experiences, we give instructions to our kids because we do not want them to
fall into the same well we had. So as parents we watch for the wellbeing of our
children, that’s one of many jobs. And seems like a constant reminder is needed
for that little one at home not to get too close to the stove cause is hot, but
that will be ONLY until that little one gets burn; because that day the consequences
and pain suffered for that disobedience will remain in that little child’s mind
and he/she will probably will stay away for good or at least for long time.
If us, earthly parents, love and care
for our children, want to protect them, and save them from trouble, we definitely
do not want them to hurt or even to be close to someone who might try to hurt
them, now think how much more, our heavenly Father would do that for us, HIS
CHILDREN?!!!
Our dear heavenly Father DO NOT WANTS
TO SEE US HURT, in fact, HE made sure we got the details of chapters like this
one, to be used as a warning and a reminder to assure us that when we do not
follow HIM, we will hurt, that if we mess with Satan’s stove (the wrong and bad
things, the things that oppose to God) we will get burn, and badly burnt!!!
See when our children follow us,
they’re being under our coverage, if we go right and they go with us that cover
of protection is right above them, but if they choose to go left instead, it
was their choice to leave that protection coverage. In other words, the
consequences and pains that literally touching a burning stove or taking a left
instead of a right can be bad, but the disobedience to our Heavenly Father’s advices
could be unbearable for us!
Please understand that The LORD
DID NOT CAME TO DESTROY US (that was Satan’s job) but really TO SAVE US, to
RESTORE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, after humanity deliberately broke it in the
Garden of Eden. Satan, the thief, does
not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, but GOD sent JESUS as a
ransom, to save us, to give us life, and that we may have it more abundantly.[1] Following are some warnings for us NOT to mess up with certain things. You’ll
be able to see that The Father not only warns us but also gives us not one or
two or even three but multiple chances for us to get in track. If at any given moment you get to go thru any
of these, IT SHOULD BE A WAKE UP CALL, for
us to realize GOD is calling us to have a change in the way we’re going, call
upon the name of The Lord and set things right with HIM, in the midst of our
trial. Against these are for us to be aware and to get back on track with
JESUS, because HE DOES NOT WANT US TO PERISH, but to have everlasting life.[2]
Then at the end of this account,
we see the reason for such an eagerness in getting our attention and therefore
the severity of his reaction to such a stubbornness, also HIS commitment to us,
His beloved children. “But despite all
this, I will not utterly reject or despise them…. I will not cancel MY covenant with them by
wiping them out, for I am the Lord their God. ….” These are the decrees,
regulations, and instructions that the Lord gave through Moses on Mount Sinai
as evidence of the relationship between Himself and the Israelites.”[3]
14 “… if you
do not listen to me or obey all
these commands, 15 and if you
break MY covenant by rejecting MY
decrees, treating MY regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey MY commands, 16 I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors
upon you—wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and
your life to ebb away. You will plant your crops in vain because your enemies
will eat them. 17 … you will be defeated by your enemies. Those who
hate you will rule over you, and you will run even when no one is chasing you!
18 “And if,
in spite of all this, you still disobey me,… 20 All your work will be for nothing, for your land
will yield no crops, and your trees will bear no fruit.
21 “If even
then you remain hostile toward me…
22 … wild animals that will rob you of your children
and destroy your livestock. Your numbers will dwindle, and your roads will be
deserted.
23 “And if you fail to learn the lesson… a plague to destroy you there, and you will be
handed over to your enemies. 26 I will destroy your food supply, so that ten
women will need only one oven to bake bread for their families. They will
ration your food by weight, and though you have food to eat, you will not be
satisfied.
27 “If in spite of all this you still refuse to listen … 32 Yes, I Myself will devastate your land, and
your enemies who come to occupy it will be appalled at what they see. 33 I will
scatter you among the nations and bring out MY sword against you. Your land
will become desolate, and your cities will lie in ruins….”
I pray that
a mighty revelation of HIS love for you become visible to you as you meditate
on His Word. Also that a deep conviction to walk in His ways not having to go
thru all these trials to realize the Kind of Father we have, a Father that
LOVES us sooooo much that HE gave FREELY the gift of HIS Son for our
Salvation. And I pray that if you have
not made HIM your God and Savior, today will be the day that you call upon His
name, asking forgiveness, and determine to live eternally for Him, and I pray
in JESUS name, AMEN!!!
