A Call to Persevere - Hebrews 10

“19 And so, DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, we can BOLDLY enter heaven’s Most Holy Place BECAUSE of THE BLOOD OF JESUS. 20 By HIS death, JESUS opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of GOD with sincere hearts FULLY trusting HIM. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with CHRIST’S blood to make us CLEAN, and our bodies have been WASHED with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly WITHOUT WAVERING to the hope we affirm, for GOD can be TRUSTED to keep HIS promise. 24 Let us think of ways to MOTIVATE ONE ANOTHER to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not NEGLECT our meeting together, as some people do, but ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER, especially now that the day of HIS return is drawing near.

26 Dear friends, IF we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, THERE IS NO LONGER ANY SACRIFICE THAT WILL COVER THESE SINS. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume HIS enemies.

32 Think back on those early days when you first learned about CHRIST. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. 35 SO DO NOT THROW AWAY THIS CONFIDENT TRUST IN THE LORD. Remember THE GREAT REWARD it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. THEN YOU WILL RECEIVE ALL THAT HE HAS PROMISED.”  Hebrews 10

The person who might dare to tell you that has it all together is not being totally honest to you, for we all need encouragement some more often than others but we all do.  This Call to Persevere passage explains the reason why we can have hope and persevere in life.

Back in the Old Testament days the priest would go to offer blood sacrifices from lambs, goats, bulls, and others, in order to redeem the people of their sins, but then as explained in Hebrews 7:21-23, THE LORD decided to send JESUS who guarantees a better covenant with God; for under the old system, death prevented the people from remaining in the office, but JESUS lives forever.

So in today’s Scripture we can see that JESUS, who is a great High Priest and who rules over us deserves a higher respect than the “old” high priests. We’re explained the way to go to HIM is with a SINCERE HEART, trusting HIM because HIS ways are different.  HE WILL ALWAYS exist.  We need to understand that as we COME to HIM with stained hearts HIS BLOOD cleanses us, and we can TRUST that HE will do as HE said for HE remains FOREVER.  As we get cleaned up, we have here a few things that will help us around in our new life, like motivate one another to acts of love and good works, when we do, with our actions we are saying “there’s a new manager in charge and I’m representing HIM”. We will start seeing things, and treating people, God’s way; all by treating others with love, and helping our neighbor.  We cannot forget that because of this NEW MANAGER in charge of our life, the old habits of not going to church, or only going on “special services”, doesn’t and can’t feel good anymore.  We can neglect out meeting together, Paul says on verse 25. See when you come to church, you encourage me for if whatever you’re going thru didn’t hold you to stay “suffering” at home by yourself, because you choose to come to God’s house and get the ingredients needed to strengthen your soul, and life to keep going, as I see that, I will be encouraged, and then I will be able to do the same for me and others as well; especially now that The Lord’s return is near.

If you need encouragement today, you are NOT alone! Get your gear going and get IN HIS PRESENCE; you can do it at home in your “prayer closet” but forget NOT, that in church, the corporate body of believers praying together for each other will boost your spiritual strength to get closer to The Lord, and less likely to have the distractions we have at home.

Our church offers weekly Prayer meetings, Bible classes, Sunday school classes which are some of the extras to the main dish that your weekly church service is.  This extras are compliments; and because usually are in small groups promote godly conversations where questions and answers are shared to lead us in a stronger walk as children of the Most High God in order to fulfill the Great Commission given to all of us (who are called by HIS name) to do. (Matthew 28:19)

God bless you, my friend!  Be strong and courageous, if God is for us, who can be against?!
