Escaping through – Exodus 14

" 8 The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, so he chased after the people of Israel, who had left with fists raised in defiance. The Egyptians chased after them with all the forces in Pharaoh’s army—all his horses and chariots, his charioteers, and his troops. The Egyptians caught up with the people of Israel….. 10 As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to THE LORD11 and they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness?..... It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the wilderness!’” 13 But Moses told the people “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”  15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! 16 Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground. 17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will charge in after the Israelites. My great glory will be displayed through Pharaoh and his troops, his chariots, and his charioteers. 18 When my glory is displayed through them, all Egypt will see my glory and know that I am the Lord!”... 21 Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water …..  22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! 23 Then the Egyptians—all of Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and charioteers—chased them into the middle of the sea. 24 But just before dawn the Lord looked down… and he threw their forces into total confusion25 He twisted[b] their chariot wheels, making their chariots difficult to drive. “Let’s get out of here—away from these Israelites!” the Egyptians shouted. “The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt!” 26 When all the Israelites had reached the other side, the Lord said to Moses, “Raise your hand over the sea again… 28 Then the waters returned and covered all the chariots and charioteers—the entire army of Pharaoh. Of all the Egyptians who had chased the Israelites into the sea, not a single one survived.
29 But THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL HAD WALKED THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA ON DRY GROUND, as the water stood up like a wall on both sides30 That is how THE LORD RESCUED ISRAEL from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And the Israelites saw the bodies of the Egyptians washed up on the seashore. 31 WHEN THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL SAW THE MIGHTY POWER that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, THEY WERE FILLED WITH AWE before him. THEY PUT THEIR FAITH IN THE LORD and in his servant Moses.”

Facing life’s battles in victory sometimes will include God-opened doors for you to “escape” situations.  A great example of this and as a testimony for the world is seen in the Exodus.  Pharaoh and his people experienced the pain of ten plagues after refusing to go with what GOD had already ordained (freeing the Jews for them to go worship God); the last one was the worst because it killed all of the firstborn sons of every Egyptian household.  Also it was the last one who moved Pharaoh hard enough to agree with God and finally let the people go.  But if we recall the plagues account[1], every time a plague would come, Pharaoh would plead for Moses to pray for the plague to stop, and some of those times he even proposed a counteroffer who of course wasn’t accepted.

Surprisingly enough came not long after letting the people go because seems that he had “come to his senses” and wanted to change what he had done, so he chased after God’s people.

We just saw how since the early Bible times people of God had been chase, and today still that hasn’t change.  In life when you try to live for GOD will have to face challenges, our faith will be tested, but if we follow through with God our victory is assured.

Being aware that our faith will be tested is the first thing in line onto our victory because we ARE serving the Master; people will expect things from us that sometimes aren’t even real! Like thinking we have to be a perfect, “do it all good people”, or that we’ll agree to everything and will never says no.  And when we do not feel those expectations we will be challenged by those, is like being “chased” by them.

Determination to live for God is a must!  When Moses was leading his people, yes, they complained because the pressure was intense and it got really intense, but in spite of that they hold on, and it was their determination what at the end paid their freedom.

In life you will encounter people that do not want to let you go, like “friends” that still invite you for a drink after work; invite you for a “night out to a club” (male and female); to do some kind of illicit thing that you might had been involved in the past but that you confessed to God for forgiveness and HE did FORGAVE you.  And now wants to hunt you down thru harassment so you go back to it.
I want to tell you that though you might feel or see them coming after you, you DO NOT HAVE to panic!  The Jews panic, but it was what they did that lead them to victory by CRYING OUT TO GOD!  This is the key, CRY OUT TO GOD.  After that they raised a complaint to their leader (this you DO NOT have to do) because really, back in the Old Testament times, an intercessor was needed, was then the Lord decided to do away with that system by sending His Son, now we have access thru HIM, and this is revealed in the New Testament.  So, as HIS people, we are free to cry out to GOD anywhere, anytime, and HE will hear us.

I will not lie to you, but the battle could be intense in our lives too, and just like the people of God think that probably remaining in the bondage we were before coming to Christ was better than “die” in the pressures of this godly walk, but that’s the way the enemy want you to think so you could be totally destroyed.  The enemy came to rob, kill and destroy[2] and he isn’t playing, he does NOT want you to stay walking with God, but for you to go back into bondage.

Like Moses I encourage you to NOT be Afraid! Just stand still, praying, and you will watch the LORD rescue you! If that “rescue” you’re looking for does not happens today, it means you’re being strengthen for tomorrow, then tomorrow,  you’ll do the same, and keep strengthening day after day, until the final victory.  But as you stay in prayer, and communicating with HIM, DAILY, the LORD HIMSELF will fight daily for you, giving you the victory that day, to continue unto the next day, and the next day over, and until the final day that will give you the deliverance, or the final victory over that situation. Whoever is pressuring you, eventually will realize that THE LORD is fighting for you and “you” are not a match for them. GOD could do for them what HE did for the Egyptians, bring them into confusion and twisted whatever they are doing to harm you and turn it for your good, for when you LIVE for GOD, HE REALLY FIGHTS for you. We can see those who were hunting the people of God, NONE SURVIVED! And God’s people crossed on dried ground, and if you stick to follow God, I declare you will too in Jesus name, AMEN!

And please I do not want you to think for a minute that us leaders have it all together because like Moses had battles, we have them too, all of us that choose to follow and live for God must go thru.  PUT your TRUST IN GOD, because though the challenges will become very intense at times “Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”[3]

I’m praying you stay rooted in the Word of God; keep talking to HIM and allow yourself a favor by listening back when HE speaks to you when you reading HIS Word. This MUST BE a DAILY affair!
